What is goBerkeley?

goBerkeley (formerly B-TAP, the Berkeley Transportation Action Plan) is a three-year pilot program in the City of Berkeley designed to improve the ease of traveling within key areas of the city. The pilot study is federally-funded and will explore and test methods of reducing local traffic congestion, improving parking options, and promoting alternatives to driving one's own car in three of Berkeley's commercial areas.

New Neighborhood Transportation Maps

To help you better understand what transportation options are available in Downtown Berkeley, Telegraph/Southside and Elmwood, we’ve put together these handy maps which show bus routes, City CarShare pods and bike routes, as well as parking garages. They’re available to download on our transit page.

A Carshare Perk for Businesses

City CarShare, a goBerkeley partner, is offering a sign-up discount and $50 in driving credits to businesses located in the 3 core neighborhoods. For more information and to sign up online, check out the goBerkeley Carshare Plan at https://www.citycarshare.org/goberkeley/.

New Parking Changes Information

We’ve updated the goParking page and added new information explaining the changes to parking that will be implemented on October 15th, 2013. Maps are available as well as a slideshow describing the upcoming changes. Check back regularly for continuing updates as we get closer to the launch of the new goBerkeley parking program.

We received lots of great feedback from the public during open houses in May and June. We’re now holding public meetings in July and August to provide information about the parking rate and time limit changes that are coming to Downtown Berkeley, the Elmwood and Telegraph/Southside this Fall. Check out the Events page for full details.

goBerkeley is officially launched!

Mayor Tom Bates, representatives from AC Transit, City CarShare, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and local businesses participating in the program officially launched goBerkeley at a City Hall launch event yesterday. The press release can be viewed here . Transit and carshare incentives for local businesses will begin July 1st and updates to the website will be ongoing. Keep an eye out for further information on parking changes in the coming weeks.

Employees of participating goBerkeley businesses who completed their enrollment before June 14th will begin to receive their AC Transit goBerkeley EasyPasses starting today (June 27th).

Welcome to the goBerkeley pilot website! We hope you will use this site to learn more about your travel choices in the City of Berkeley, including walking, cycling, BART, AC Transit, carsharing, carpooling and driving. In May/June 2013, we'll be presenting improvement options for parking conditions at Open Houses in the Elmwood, Telegraph/ Southside and Downtown Berkeley. Please check back often as we'll be posting these parking options, as well as maps that will show you how much parking costs and how long you can park at the City's meters, lots and garages.
