How to read these charts: Before we dive in, let's go over how to read these charts. 65%-85% occupancy is goBerkeley's ideal condition for a block - this means that there are one to two spaces available. Occupancy below 65% indicates that blocks are under-utilized; over 85% means that it's very hard to find a parking space. Keep these example charts in mind as you go through the data:
Elmwood blocks during the day are near ideal occupancy. Almost all blocks are 65%-85% occupied. After 6pm, however, half of the blocks are still too full.
Before: In the morning, nearly all of the blocks in The Elmwood were too empty. During the afternoon, many of the blocks are ideal. At night, however, about one third of the blocks are too full.
On weekends, Elmwood blocks are too full at noon, but a more ideal condition appears by 3pm. After 6pm, though, most of the blocks are too full again.
Before: On weekend mornings, the blocks in The Elmwood were generally too empty. Beginning at noon, however, blocks became more occupied: by 3pm, half of the blocks were too full, and by 6pm, parking availability was almost non-existent.
